The Pulse
Down in the town — the garden and the table, a project picked up after four months, and an interest that took a shape.
Nine o'clock, and the town stops. After 9:01 my day begins.
Four hours of it most days, hands in the ground — the garden, whatever needs doing.
Then the kitchen table, and the screen. A server and its files I had not opened in four months. Erdpuls. It was Erdpuls Müllrose once, tied to a place I am no longer in. The place-name has dropped away. Just Erdpuls now.
Server, services, documents — brought current. The Open Educational Services of the UBEC Network. Documents turned into Ukrainian.
Into the center of town by midday. Walking. Being introduced. The same thing kept surfacing: they want to learn English. Not one or two — enough that it has taken a shape. An informal club, a way to find one another. The first meeting is still weeks off.
Back to the table. Early groundwork on something shaped together, not delivered — a way of learning. Living Labs, perhaps. Too early to say.
The table again, late. Bed before midnight.
Tomorrow, back up the mountain.
